Camping FAQs

My child is coming to camp! What should he/she pack?

Cool and warm weather clothing (the weather can be unpredictable), sturdy shoes for walking, toiletries, flashlight, umbrella, water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen, bathing suit, beach towel, personal items for free time (games, books, puzzles, etc) your bible and a journal,

blanket/sleeping bag, pillow, and towels.

What if I need to contact my child while he/she is at Windsor Hills?

You can call the camp office at (603) 478-3363.  Messages are checked several times a day.  For emergencies only, you can call the director's home at (603) 478-1450.  Please refrain from calling the camp to "check" on your child.  This takes our staff away from their primary purpose of ministering to the campers.  Also, we find that when a child talks to a parent during camp, they usually end up going home early.  Let us try to give your child the best camping experience possible and take care of any homesickness.  If there is a problem, you child will be allowed to call you.

How do I get to Windsor Hills?

Directions can be found on the Contact Us page, or you can use the GPS address of 33 Beech Drive, Windsor, NH, which will bring you right onto the campground. You can then follow the signs to your registration location.

My child has special dietary requirements. What should I do?

At Windsor Hills Camp, we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions.  In order to maintain the lowest cost possible for our campers, we can only provide this when medically necessary.  If your camper has such needs, please inform us by contacting Windsor Hills Camp at (603) 478-3363 or at info@windsorhillscamp.org and we will do our best to help provide for your child's needs.  We understand that in some cases, you may need to bring certain foods to camp for your child.  We will do our best to accomodate this.  Please refrain from bringing any peanut butter items as we do not stock peanut butter or peanuts in our kitchen due to so many severe allergies.  We request that you inform us of these needs at least 2 weeks before arrival.

My child left something at the camp. What do I do?

At Windsor Hills Camp, we maintain a lost and found with all remaining items donated to the Salvation Army on November 1st and May 1st of each year.  If you are looking for an item your child left, contact us at (603) 478-3363 orinfo@windsorhillscamp.org and we can arrange to get the item to you.

I don't see my question answered here. Who can I contact?

The Windsor Hills office staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have.  Please leave a message for us at (603) 478-3363 or at info@windsorhillscamp.org, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

I have special dietary requirements. What should I do?

At Windsor Hills Camp, we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions.  In order to maintain the lowest cost possible for our retreaters, we can only provide this when medically necessary.  If you have such needs, please inform us by contacting Windsor Hills Camp at (603) 478-3363 or at info@windsorhillscamp.org and we will do our best to help provide for your needs.  We request that you inform us of these needs at least 2 weeks before arrival.

What kind of meals can I expect during my retreat?

All meals at Windsor Hills are served buffet style. Three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) come standard with a one night retreat, 5 meals (two breakfasts, two lunches, and one dinner) with a two night retreat and 8 meals (three breakfasts, three lunches, and 2 dinners) with a 3 night retreat.

I am handicapped. How will this affect my retreat experience?

Windsor Inn has several handicapped accessible rooms on the first floor and our dining hall is also accessible.  However, our facility is designed for a rustic camping experience.  The majority of our facility is not handicapped accessible.  Please contact WHC to discuss your specific situation.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are strongly discouraged due to the fact that we are in a secluded area with lots of various wildlife.  Animals are also not permitted in several of our main buildings, including our Inn and Dining Hall.  If your pet is medically required, arrangements during certain seasons can be made by contacting WHC.

Do you have internet accessibility and cell phone reception?

By design, our internet accessibility is extremely limited and for necessary use only.  If at anytime you must have access, it can usually be arranged.  Our local town, Hillsboro, has several locations (McDonalds and Subway) where WIFI access is available.

Cell phone service is available at certain spots on the campground but is intermittent at best.  We encourage guests to plan on turning off their cell phones during their retreat as it will constantly be searching for a signal and will drain your battery very quickly.

Do you offer discounts for late arrival or early departure of individuals from a retreat?

If notified two weeks before arrival of the late arrival/early departure, WHC will offer a $5 per meal missed discount.  There is no discount for the facility use/lodging fee.
